Blended Learning is an American Red Cross® training format that combines online coursework completed at home with in-person, hands-on skills sessions. The online portion allows participants to learn core content at their own pace before class, so more time in person can be spent practicing skills, asking questions, and building confidence. This format is efficient, flexible, and helps students arrive better prepared, making the in-person training more focused, engaging, and successful.
Approximately two weeks before the in-person sessions, participants will receive a "Welcome" email from Trant Training with a link to the American Red Cross® Learning Center and instructions for accessing the online content that must be completed before attending the in-person sessions. Wherever you see "BL" in a course description, the course is a Blended Learning course.
The time required to complete online content varies by class. Please refer to the individual course descriptions for more information.
Completion of the online content before attending the in-person sessions is required to successfully pass the course.
Participants must be 15 years old by the last day of class.
Lifeguard (LG) certification is valid for 2 years.
Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) certification is valid for 2 years.
Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification is valid for 2 years.
Adult & Pediatric CPR & First Aid certification is valid for 2 years.
Lifeguard courses are full-day, hands-on, and physically demanding. Participants should expect to spend time both in the water and out of the water throughout the course. Being prepared helps ensure a safe, productive, and successful training experience.

We understand that plans can change, and it is not our intention to profit from participants who are unable to attend. However, due to the significant costs of running a course, including facility rental, staffing, and limited class capacity, the following policy applies. In addition, because our courses require completion of online prework in advance, late cancellations make it difficult to fill open spots with participants who have enough time to complete the required coursework.
100% refund for cancellations made 14+ days prior to the class start date
50% refund for cancellations made 7–13 days prior to the class start date
No refunds for cancellations made within 7 days of the class start date
Transfers:
Participants may transfer to a future class (one time, subject to availability) if requested at least 7 days prior to the class start date
Transfer requests made within 7 days of the class start date are not guaranteed
Prerequisite Swim Test:
Participants who do not pass the prerequisite swim test are not eligible for a refund
We strongly encourage participants to carefully review the prerequisite requirements and only register if they are confident in their ability to meet them. The swim test is required by the certifying organization and cannot be waived.
Course Completion:
Participants who do not successfully complete the course are not eligible for a refund.
A transfer to a future class may be offered at our discretion, based on availability
Personal connection is a core value at Trant Training. We understand our courses require a meaningful time and financial commitment, and we want every participant to feel comfortable and prepared. Questions are always welcome, and we’re happy to help you decide if a course is the right fit.
